FAQs and Testimonials
What does a Doula do?
I offer guidance, support and an extra pair of hands for your family during those first few months. A visit might include meal prep, laundry, helping with your toddler, listening to and caring for the new parents and baby, giving you an opportunity for a nap or shower (hopefully both!).
Client Testimonials
“Where the healthcare system fails, Mary steps in and provides knowledge and first hand experience to help guide you. Her postpartum planning sessions were the right level of information to be informative and not overwhelming. My husband and I are very thankful for having Mary on our team to navigate the mine field of questions and unknowns during the transition into parenthood.” - Brianna, Lake Stevens, WA
“It only occurred to me late in my third pregnancy to hire a postpartum doula… in part because many doulas focus only on the birthing person and baby care and as an experienced mother there is a lot I’ve already figured out for myself. But what if you’re looking at only 10 days of leave for Dad, 2 and 4 year-old big sibs, a national childcare shortage and…bless him, a dog?! Enter: Mary. Mary comfortably and flexibly met our needs; coming several days a week at first, she was unfazed by the toddler and the newborn, and sometimes juggled both! What a relief that was! She read books to my older children, walked the dog, helped with laundry and always made sure I had enough to eat and drink… It can be hard to let other people into the messiness of your life, but knowing Mary was coming - and that she was so chill about it all! - helped me feel at ease. This is what community feels like and I’m glad Mary is part of ours.” - Mara, Freeport
“Mary’s nurturing presence, knowledge, and devoted support helped me feel more capable and centered while navigating my first-time pregnancy & postpartum period as a mom of twins. Even though she’s only one person, Mary’s care felt like having the whole “village” I needed but didn’t have. From weekly check-in emails and phone calls, plus her home visits, she intuitively anticipated my needs while offering guidance that made me feel as prepared as I could be each step of the way… Having Mary in my circle turned out to be essential for my emotional, mental, and physical wellbeing… The way she kept out house running with the little chores that got put by the wayside was so appreciated. Plus her nourishing and delicious home-cooked meals kept ME going which as a new mom of twins felt life-saving. Her care made balancing my own healing with caregiving possible. Whether you’re stepping into motherhood for the first time or another, having Mary on your journey will be one of the best, most valuable decisions you can make!” - Lauren, Windham
